VENUE
The Savings Bank - Glasgow
When we set out to make this video we had many different ideas on a location, from wedding venues to studios, casino's to recording it outside.
We drew up a short list of 2 or 3 of our favourites and made enquiries on availability.
From initial contact it was immediately clear that The Savings Bank was everybody's first choice. Every step of the way, from communication, to inviting us down before hand to check the place out, it immediately felt and looked like the the right place.
After seeing the venue in person and speaking to Nedka and her team, we decided that this was the place to go and didn't end up looking at any other venues after we had seen this one.
We can't recommend this place highly enough, it's an absolute hidden Gem in the centre of Glasgow.
VIDEO
Over the years we have worked with many amazingly talented videographers.
For this particular shoot, in this style of venue, we wanted to capture some camera movement to highlight the features of the building and get the most out of the performance space.
Having worked with Stuart from Shootback before we knew that he would be perfect for this.
Stuart as alway done an absolutely amazing job and was one of the fastest video shoots we have ever been involved in.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We met Lee Davidson Conner at a wedding we were playing at several years ago. Lee had suggested to us back then that he was interested photographing a band setting up and we have worked with Lee on several occasions since while recording videos and doing wedding showcases.
Lee's style is to take candid shots which we really like and work perfectly for video shoots, so as soon as we had the venue in place our first thought was to contact Lee to see if he was available to come down to take some photo's.
If you are looking for a photographer for any occasion then you should look no further than Lee. He is an amazing photographer, complete professional and one of the nicest guys you could meet.
We look forward to working with Lee again in the future.
Music
We had actually recorded the music for this video before we even had the intention of making a video.
Venice of the North is one of the best studios in Scotland and we have been fortunate enough to record there many times.
Andrew Shepherd & Jamie Martin have an amazing set up and its always an absolute pleasure to make some music there.
We had only really went into the studio to record some songs to make the most of Covid restrictions lifting and being allowed back into studio spaces.
After hearing what a great job Jamie and Andrew had made of the tracks we knew that we would need to make them into a video
Tracks
Not Nineteen Forever by The Corteeners is a song we have been playing for a while and is a dance floor favourite at any occasion from weddings to events to pub gigs. We had been planning to get this into a video for a while and now has turned out to be the right time
Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac always goes down well at any occasion. Although the original recording sounds amazing we tried to give our version a different feel. We even managed to sneak a small section of 'No Woman No Cry' by Bob Marley into it. We love playing this one and hope you do too. Our version features our drummer Neil on vocals.
Loving You by Paulo Nutini is a song which we have been asked to perform for first dances many times. Our bass player Mark takes the lead on this catchy soul ballad and we're pretty sure we will be requested to play this classic for many more future first dances.
Groove Is In The Heart by Deee-Lite is a stonewall 90's funk classic which always gets the dance floor full. We love playing this track and had a blast recording the audio and the video for it. We can't wait to start playing this one again at an event near you soon.
Without doubt this has been one of the best experiences we have had making a promo video from start to finish.
We have been extremely lucky to work with so many amazing people and can't wait to get started on the next one!
